I started looking out for Banvoa's flowering when she started growing breast at 10 years old. I was petrified. I knew I had to be ready. I felt like it was my next major exam in being a mother. I certainly wanted to be ready. So, I just watched Banvoa. What's interesting is how I noticed how fast her breast developed. I know that I wasn't focusing on the wrong thing. It is clear as a mother, you must be a spontaneous multitasker. There is always something to look for.
Banvoa started showing symptoms of starting in her menstrual cycle a few months right before she turned 12. She complained about headaches and took more naps. I began to think that her flowering is beginning and I wanted to be ready. The symptom I noticed the most in Banvoa was her abdomen aching. Initially I just thought of her taking more naps as a possible growth spurt. It wasn't until after she started her cycle that my husband shared with me that Banvoa complained to him about having headaches in the morning. I was first to leave our camp for work is why she didn't tell me. Well, it was both my husband and I who noticed this symptom together in the kitchen during one of Banvoa's tutoring session. When Banvoa uncomfortably stood up and I asked why she was standing. She said her stomach hurt. I asked, "is it your abdomen?" She said, "Yes." It took me a minute to think of what it could be. My mother's intuition kicked in and I chimed, "Banvoa it's your period."

Every mother will experience something different concerning their daughters start to her flowering. As for Banvoa, it was headaches, frequent naps, and abdominal aching. What's most important to remember is for your daughter is not to fear her flowering. This is why I had what I called a Flowering Party. The Flowering Party is a celebration of knowledge and support. Your daughter's support comes from her own personal sacred circle. The sacred circle is a group of women who know your daughter well that she loves best.
During the Flowering Party, you serve all your daughter's favorite foods. As for her gifts, you offer her favorite herbal teas; her favorite fragranced candles and lotions; greeting cards that capture the moment; and whatever else you would like to offer your blooming flower. The most important gift of all, is the mother's keepsake gift that the beautiful flower may have for the rest of her life.
